Character/Set Breakdown

Pinokenstein- Tenor to G sharp.  A young child who desires to be loved combined with a teenage who is eager to punish his parents.  His saving grace is that he has no idea that taking body parts from people will kill them.  He is, naturally, a puppet.  He is operated by two people dressed in black.

Dr. Geppetto- High baritone to D sharp.  Could be many ages between 25 and 50.  He is singularly obsessed with proving his ideas are right and saving himself the humiliation of telling his bride that he cannot sire children.

Blue Fairy- A belt/rock mezzo to B.  Sexy in a broken kind of way.  She is a sinister presence and a reminder of things left undone and unsaid.

Ensemble woman- wailing soprano to E.  She plays the unfinished painting and Carla, Dr. Geppetto's fiancé.

2 Ensemble Men- 1 tenor, 1 baritone.  One will play the unfinished book, the other will second the puppeteer who plays Pinokenstein.

Sets include a cluttered laboratory, a chapel interior, the shore, and an iceberg.  Set ideally would be elements in a open, black space.
